So why do you have to do all of this for your mother? Is she incapable of filling out applications herself? Also, 67 isn't elderly.

Fine. Senior. Happy?

How is this relevant for you to know? All of your advice up to this point has been incompetent and/or through someone else's experience. I think it is safe to say that you can opt-out of this conversation and let someone willing to add value step in.

Thanks.

I'm a senior myself, and don't rely on other people to do things for me. If Your mother is on SSI, she's not retired, she's disabled, unless you think that it's Social Security Retirement.

I think maybe you should opt out of this conversation, since you can't discuss anything except your mother and you. I've been on here much longer than you, and have way more to contribute than you ever will.

Um, excuse me sir or madam but the entire reason why I came here is because we're moving to San diego and needed help / more information.

I didn't exactly create a post with our pictures and said let's talk about us. LOL.

Anyway, I got what I needed and hopefully have taught you something in return.

Good luck.

You're in for a surprise.

. . . .
Clearly you didn't, because you've done nothing but pooh-pooh the help/information you've been given. Nobody likes a know-it-all, and that's what you're sounding like in this thread.

Yep, and he's in for a surprise. He thinks just by making phone calls and submitting applications, that his mother will automatically have a place to live. What he doesn't know is that's just the beginning, and that there are no guarantees on vacancies, even when they come up. They go by the list, and it's first come, first served.

And you are 'such a joy' to have around here. So polite and humble and thankful for others taking the time to respond to you.

It is fine to not like, believe or take their advice, but, in my world, the best way to get along with people is probably to just say thanks and then take what you like and leave the rest.

Apparently, since you say are so whiz bang at making things happen, your most effective strategy is to find slaves you can abuse to do everything for you? Fascinating .. and so innovative.

Take care and good luck. I feel for your mother but I guess she is used to dealing with you already so she is probably going to be fine. I had a comment that might have added to the pile of ideas people have generated for you but since you already know everything and I am sure you would spit at me too, I will leave it off the table.
