VA loans are tricky for sure, a lot of seller don’t want to deal with them either, usually because they know there’ll be issues with the house when it comes time to finance. Best of luck to you and your husband, keep us posted.

Thank you, I will! And yeah, it's a bummer. We found a house in La Mesa we really liked, but the seller wasn't open to financing backed by VA loan.

I would also add south San Diego

Getting someone to accept VA here in San Diego is going to be rough.
When Ex wife remarried her current husband 4 years ago he wanted to use his VA, at the time he was still enlisted.
They couldn't find "Jack Crap" here San Diego. They ended up finding many places in Marietta that took VA, 4 Bedroom 3 bath with a pool and 2 Garages for 225k. Her husband was not happy with the commute but, now he's retire so he doesn't have to bother with it.

Just an Idea

Thank you! I agree Murrieta is more reasonable, but I can't do that commute and it also seems relatively rural compared to what I am used to :-D

What about these listings and areas? The first listing on Switzerland looks like a good deal, I am in that zip code. It is a nice place to live, but where do you work? There's the red trolley nearby, not like in North Park

If YOU say it's bad, then it's bad. Nuff said

Don't just drive through. Go after dark, park, and walk around the neighborhood to see how you'll feel walking the dogs.

Decent area, short drive to downtown, and Balboa Park/ Hillcrest, South Park areas. Just like most areas in SD the people in that area go to work, have kids, and obey the law. If you like the home and the feel of the area go for it. A lot of areas in SD are so called tough to some people who grew up in great neighborhoods where nothing ever happens. South Park and North Park along with downtown and holiday have crime everywhere, yet people will tell you to move there. Go for it if you like it and can see yourself there for 5 years.

It’s really the prudent thing to do, late night drive-bys never hurt either.
