This event doesn't get marketed very well. But if want to tour several new and remodeled homes in coastal San Diego, you'll like this event.

Saturday October 13th, 11am to 5pm. $40 per person.

My wife and I have gone several times in the past. Some homes are for sale. Some are just trophy homes.

You can buy tickets at the website: www.sandiegomodernhometour.com

Seems pretty cool, I love architecture and touring homes ... but $40 per person? I don't want to spend $80 looking at homes when we already do that for free! Hubby and I always look at open houses, in fact, we've already walked thru the home on La Pintura Dr, in La Jolla (one of the homes listed on the tour).

I like the idea and I'm sure it would be fun -- but not for $80. JMO.

Yes, $5 a house is a lot of money. However, we go to all the local home and garden tours ie. La Jolla, Mission Hills, Point Loma etc. We are seldom disappointed. Lots of good views. Lots of good ideas. Cheap entertainment and most of the time it's tax-deductible.

You do? $80 is cheap? That's dinner in La Jolla for two without the booze, who cares about the tax deduction lol.

Curious.In.California... well I just bought 2 tickets. I found a discount code for $5 off per ticket: D3HOME18.

If you decide to go and want to walk with us, just send me a private message. It's always more fun to go on home tours in a small group. We live near Mission Bay so we can meetup pretty much anywhere.

Isn't it a bit early to be advertising for an event that isn't happening for another 90 years?

Yes, I was a bit early but it was a good event. Not great but I really enjoy seeing what's 'hot' in home décor. Granite and travertine are dead. Concrete is the new Formica and linoleum.

I really wonder what a house will look like 90 years from now. Maybe Formica, linoleum, and earth-tone appliances will make a comeback. I bet all ducts will be gone and mini-split HVAC systems (or something similar) will be the norm. All electrical will be wireless. However, plumbing will be plumbing.

Not sure if I'll be around in 2108 but I'll put it on the calendar.

I'm looking into cryogenically freezing myself and then thawing for this.

I just now saw this message -- sorry I missed it! Hubby was anchoring the news that day anyway so he would have missed it too. How was it? Hope you had a good time!

I've been noticing a new trend w/ new homes -- they're using like a faded wood look for the flooring and I'm not sure that I like it. Its interesting but it sort of reminds me of the faded jeans look, lol. Will it be a fad?

I'm over the granite phase but I'm also picky about what type of quartz countertops are used. I've seen some that are all grey with no pattern but to me it looks too cold. I prefer some sort of pattern, like marble or crystal quartz.
