I just had to give the news to about 400 people that are contractors with no benefits they aren't getting work for the time being and no end in sight. Most of these people rent. No money, no food or rent. UE won't cover any of this.

You’re right: this is not the military. And that’s my point: good thing. In the military if your life and the lives of others were on the line, you pulled your weight, and the weight of anyone else who was incapacitated. You hunkered down, performed your duties with intensity and never talked defeat. When you had the chance to eat, you ate what was available. When all you could do was wait, you found ways to amuse yourselves and keep spirits up all around. If you got hit, you took it like a man and tried to get back to your unit and duties best you could / soon as possible.

Whiners did not thrive.

Some have resources. Others do not. Those who have can help those who are resourceless. There are also a plethora of relief programs being developed ... and some are functioning already. Mortgage payments are being postponed without penalties or credit dings. Student loan payments postponed as well. Tax filings and payments are extended without penalties. Food banks are serving the communities with assistance from National Guard units.

While many renters don’t have a formal plan to support them yet, landlords hate evictions and will most often work with a renter in crisis. This challenge is also being dissected by the politicians working on relief proposals.

This is an election year. No one in public office wants to be KO’d by failing to get on board with solutions to the economic challenges. The lessons of 2007/2008 are still fresh.

Reinforcements are on the way:

Coronavirus stimulus package to exceed $6T,
Quote:
An emergency stimulus package to bailout the U.S. economy amid the coronavirus pandemic will total $6 trillion — a quarter of the entire country’s GDP, the White House said Tuesday.

Trump administration economist Larry Kudlow said the package would include $4 trillion in lending power for the Federal Reserve as well as a $2 trillion aid package currently being hammered out by Congress.

“This package will be the single largest main street assistance program in the history of the United States,” Kudlow said at the White House coronavirus task force briefing on Tuesday evening.

Included in the package is Congress’ almost $2 trillion emergency bill which, when passed, will issue direct checks for American families, bailouts for the airline industry and a $350 billion loan program for struggling small businesses.

Stop being a fraud would be a start. Admit that you were wrong about this. Stop trying to pin this on some conspiracy theory.

For the first time in your presidency, act presidential instead of a third grade bully.
