The stars mean that after every 1800 you get a star. This is out of topic, but check in the other topic all the way down. And the Community Chat. I don't want to get into trouble talking about it here, but since you asked.

I heard we had a few aftershocks, some in northern Calif and some as big as 5-pointers all over the place. Our house here in Hesperia rocked back and forth for about 45 seconds and one of our dogs still hasnt come back. We closed the sliding door (for the first time in a long time) so the cat and the puppy doesnt get out, just in case. She might come back, she's been known to take off for periods of time (an hour, 30 minutes, whatever) though. We're still glued to CNN for anything that might be of any importance, such as evacuating or something.....

Everyone in our three story building here in Mission Valley evacuated. Things fell out of cupboards and bookcases. I swear that I saw the floors themselves shaking .. but it could be just me. Pretty damn scary considering we just moved to California and never felt an earthquake before.

Talking to others in the building, some people have been here in San Diego for more than 20 years and they said this was the strongest they've ever felt. Not reassuring at all.

It was about 20 miles deep. Deeper the better. The one in Haiti was only 7 miles deep. That certainly didn't help their cause. Especially given the poor workmanship of their buildings.

From Mission Valley. We were sitting at a picnic table and felt strong rolling sensation. Anti theft alarms on several parked cars went off. Went back to the house. Pictures on walls hanging at an angle. Several items on closet shelves knocked to the ground.

I don't scare very easily but this earthquake had my heart racing. I was in my office in La Jolla at the time. I thought it was the BIG one for sure.
