And I actually love this time of year the most. We're actually getting some variable weather now. Much better IMO that in Aug/Sep when it's really too hot to do anything but go to the beach.
Well we're kind of talking about the COASTAL experiance here, which is pretty different than where you live. If you live on the coast it's gloom, trust me, but I can totally see why inland residents like this time of year. Inland is a different ballgame.

LOL, it's all relative. It feels downright chilly to me (mid-60s today) after spending 4 days in the desert in 90+ degrees, but last week I was exulting about how warm it was when it was 65.

May Grey & June Gloom effect the immediate coastline differently that just a few miles inland. The further inland the weaker the marine layer but generally it reaches even into the Inland Empire during the morning hours. What I don't like about early summer is that all the coastal moisture in the air makes it very hazy in the afternoon & it becomes very smoggy inland. But otherwise it is great weather because by July it all changes & becomes very hot inland.

Drive East about an hour, over the mountains. Then it's desert for the next gazillion miles or so.

Hiking, camping, offroading, etc.. but the season's just about over. It starts getting too hot to enjoy in the daytime around May. That's when I head out to the mountains or beach for camping and outdoor recreation.
