You must not realize how much washes over from China.

They were talking about an older cruise ship, so that is questionable. Modern cruise ships do have their own sewage treatment plants onboard
and what they discharge into the sea is no worse than than what the municipal sewage treatment plants along the coast are putting out (Seattle, Portland, SF, LA).

Aha, I finally read the actual article. For wanna-be entrepreneurs, not people looking for jobs. That makes sense. I couldn't see how it would help ordinary workers.

Still, someone founding a startup is eventually going to need a real visa. I don't know how that is going to work.

wow, this gives a whole new meaning to slavery and slave ships. This exploitation of 3rd world slave workers is not going to help the american image at all.

on another note, I know a lot of outsourced unemployed innovative americans who would love such an opportunity, but doubt they would be as obedient.

Theoretically H1 should go for people whose jobs cant be done by an american in the country. This is the same rule as a work visa in europe. Your employer has to prove that what you do cant be done by a local worker.

Same thing applies for O1 visas, in a different scale. Thats at least what ive been told. On a practical level, I dont know how much this holds true.

Nope, they go to people willing to work longer hours for less pay. Same with illegal labor.
