If I were the OP I'd live as close to the campus as possible. There are lots of on campus activities to take advantage of and obviously plenty of younger folks to hang out with. The amenities elsewhere aren't worth the commute time and $$$. What's saved on gas can go towards the rent. Would suggest perhaps finding a roommate to share a 2br.
