So, the view can definitely be over the estuary
This isn't a requirement, though. Comerica Park in Detroit, for instance, faces South. I doubt they'd make a stadium face West in Oakland, but it's not ultimately required that the stadium face any direction.

That being said, if it faced East/Northeast, it'd have a pretty good view of downtown Oakland, the Oakland hills, and (possibly) the Inner Harbor/estuary.

Some face south/east but I can't think of any park that faces west.

Nevermind, you're right that you can have a view of the water. I just wasn't picturing it right.

Kind of wonder what a view of the Oakland skyline/East Bay Hills would be from that spot if it was oriented a different direction and whether or not it would be better. Also which orientation is better for wind protection.

I imagine that there will be some sections of the ballpark that will have a view of the Oakland skyline/East Bay Hills. still, I like the idea of the ballpark facing the water.

You guys are playing a wish game with this Howard Terminal talk, nothing more.

Knauss says Howard Terminal would work, puts up no proof (where is his environmental study? where's the money? where's the developer to make money on other structures to fund the stadium?), and you guys believe him only because you want to not because it's actually believable.

Meanwhile there is 5-10x more money ready to support the A's in San Jose than Knauss' puny business coalition in Oakland (oh I forgot the show of support from Quan and her henchmen!).

MLB is going to force Wolff to negotiate with Oakland, that's the effect of the Howard Terminal team negotiating with MLB behind the scenes, instead of taking them to courts.

Port of Oakland + Howard Terminal + Jack London Square + Brooklyn Basin = World Class Waterfront Opportunity. MLB likes this package.

Well shouldn't people be thinking of alternatives if San Jose doesn't work out?
