Depends on what part of SF you're talking about. Temperatures within the city itself can vary by as much as 5-10 degrees (say between Ocean Beach and the warmest neighborhoods of the Mission/Potrero Hill/around downtown, SOMA, Mission Bay).

Also, time of day is important. In he mornings, the entire city can be covered in a layer of fog; but by noon, downtown (or really any parts of SF east of divisadero/arguello...depends on the day) will usually be engulfed in sun. And when the sun comes out, it can make it feel a lot warmer, even hot (even if it's "only 65" out).

But yes, 50's for the high is pretty cold for SF. Mid-60's/low 70's is a more normal/average high for the warmest parts of the city this time of year. Then again, SF's real summer doesn't start for another month, or so.

Fun fact: it's been exactly one month since the temperature reached 70° in San Francisco.

Yea, late June/early July was awesome, with temperatures in the 70's/80's many days in a row. It has felt a bit below average since then.

Not to nitpick, though, what's your source? I don't really love using weather.com, but I quickly just checked it, and they have it reaching 70 degrees as recently as July 29 (San Francisco Yesterday's Observed Conditions and Temperatures - weather.com). Weather underground shows similar temps, and even says it reached 70 on Saturday (http://www.wunderground.com/history/...lyHistory.html). Just curious.

No its perfectly normal weather for SF. There are people on this forum who have convinced themselves that SF weather is great but it's not and sucks 350 days a year!

Well, I got that from a weatherperson on TV (don't remember which channel) but that was a week or so ago. I didn't realize it had gotten so "warm" last week.

So, never mind.

No, it's possibly accurate... I bet the differences lie in what part of the city they're taking the temps. Ocean Beach to The Mission can be like a 10 degree difference sometimes, so I bet the differences lie there.

Yea, this winter was so horrible. Those weeks/months of clear blue skies in the middle Richmond that I experienced was just plain torture!

Mid Feb, between storms, offshore wind, tasty waves ... then beers and BBQ out back.

I miss living near the beach!
