Truth be told, Oakland is only considered special because hipsters and transplants who could not hack it in SF got priced out of the mission. So now there is an increase in fusion food and rents and suddenly the city is apparently hip. LOL. Go downtown on a Saturday night, it looks like all the people from the mission in 2006 now hang out there. Big woop.
Thankfully we have a deluded Santa Cruz resident here to tell us how we're all actually unemployed former Mission district hipster transplants (wow, you must be psychic), who are wrong about everything regarding our own city, and how you're the only one who knows what things are really like.

People like Oakland because there are things to like about it (and it was that way before hipsters discovered Oakland, which you would know if you actually knew anything about Oakland). It's not hard to understand, and it's not a conspiracy to trick people into thinking Oakland is a cool place, you moron.

And you really think that the Baltimore forum doesn't have moderators from Baltimore, or Baltimore residents posting in it? Where are they all from then? Santa Cruz? Nepal? LOL

For the record: I'm not a hipster, I'm an SF native who was actually born in the Mission district, and I lived in the outer sunset before I moved to Oakland.

You wanna look in your magic crystal ball and tell us more about ourselves? Maybe I'm secretly the prince of Mongolia or something.

LOL, I lived in Oakland up until about a year ago. It's not really anything special, sorry. How is Oakland "your city" if you are not from there?

Not as hilarious as an east coast transplant trying to claim Oakland, who thinks Orange County is "where it's at" in SoCal

You sure bounce around a lot for someone who hates "transplants" so much. Why not stay down in LA? Santa Cruz is pretty lame compared to the real beach cities down the CA coast, like San Diego.

Except I am a native from a Ca beach city, and you simply are not. Thus, I don't really care what you think of it. How about you go back to your home state.

LoL! San Diego? Spoken like a true transplant.

I've lived in the Bay Area for almost 10 years, so nah, I'll think I'll stay. Have fun in Santa Cruz with your awesome beach board walk though.

Oakland is happy to just be. Seems like you are the one with the issue.
