Just who do you think "they" why are you so willing to trust "them" now?

Don't forget, even a one bedroom condo in that building is 500k.

And the link I supplied said that the 2.2 million dollar penthouse was previously sold for 1.16 million dollars.

Comparable penthouses at axis and residences are also valued at over one million dollars.

So 2.2 million is not an implausible price.

I think some people on here just can't understand anything being as valuable as a single family home in a good school district. But for someone who prefers density,a penthouse is equally valuable.

What's A High-Rise Penthouse Condo Worth to You?

Not sure what year this article is from, 2013 I think. But it discusses the value of various penthouses in San Jose.

Of course it's plausible. Someone paid it. I don't think a single fam home could be worth anywhere near 2.2 mill either which is why I moved.

Yeah,I agree, if a single family home in a good school district is important to you, it is necessary to either make a LOT of money or move to a less desirable area.

Having grown up here,I love silicon valley and intend to stay. I don't want kids anymore (and girls don't like me other than as a friend anyway) so a single family home is not important to me.

SF's things to do list is about 3x as good as SJ's. SJ has a dumb petting zoo (Happy Hollow) and an outdated Egyptian museum, whereas SF has beautiful highways and bridges and just so much.
San Jose has the Tech Museum, Winchester Mystery House, a Beethoven museum which is the only one of its kind on the west coast, Raging Waters, various indoor climbing facilities, movie theaters, malls, the largest Monopoly board in the world, awesome parks (see pics above for examples), great nightlife etc.

Combine this with being close to high paying employers and you have the reason why San Jose is the most expensive metro area in the USA.

I grew up here and I love it. San Francisco has nice places to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. They are too far to the left for me (I'm left wing but not that far) and have an arrogant attitude. San Jose has a unique pace, a unique atmosphere, in French je ne sais quoi (literally "I don't know what"). SF has a different je ne sais quoi. It is up to the individual which you prefer. Having grown up here, I prefer San Jose.

I like how people in SJ like to brag about how much their city has to offer, when the truth is that other cities have better and more.
Well, right now, the free market has determined that San Jose is the most desirable. Of course it fluctuates between San Jose, New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. But San Jose is definitely one of the elite cities in the USA.

Yep! Can't argue the facts. San Jose is a desirable place to live which is a fact based on statistics. Can't argue with the numbers. I'll brag all day long about that )

Don't forget about Nor Cal Laser Tag and Rockin' Jump which are both on Monterey Road in San Jose.

And you do have to count all the things which might not technically be in San Jose, but are for all practical and cultural purposes part of it. Such as the 49ers Stadium and Great America in Santa Clara.

btw here's an official City of San Jose web page talking about downtown. Choose Downtown San Jose

And the Night Life page from the San Jose Downtown Business Association. Night Life - Downtown San Jose: Silicon Valley's City Center

Fireworks in downtown San Jose:

YouTube video of the San Jose waterfront.

(alviso was a small town touching the san franicsco bay, which San Jose annexed a while back.)
