This year, Santa Fe didn't even make the rudest city list...
I'm wondering specifically which list you are talking about.
If you haven't noticed over the years, those types of lists constantly change. Not that the cities change, but the criteria change... The people who write this materal have a job, they need to show something new, even if it is not new. They gotta put food on the table and save up for more cell phone minutes.
For the record, the last five times I have taken visitors to Santa Fe, the only rude people we have encountered have been rude visitors, a few which were visitors which I was taking around...
More appropriate for this thread. Yesterday after I left the mall, I saw an acquaintance in passing, asked each other how we were doing, and then I went to my car. A teenage boy yells "ma'am!! ma'am" and then says "you dropped this" and handed me the five dollar bill I dropped. So thankful for that boy!! I guess people aren't so rude in Santa Fe, huh?

After a month of being here with my experiences out in public and with collegues and I'm definitely inclined to whole heartedly agree. I've hit it off pretty well here. I find Santa Fe to be a very friendly city and rude encounters almost never. I'm loving it more here everyday, it has my heart.
It's the wealthy NYC transplants who can't lower themselves to speak to local residents. And young Hispanics (women in particular, for some reason) like to be rude and yell insults from their cars. The drivers in general are pretty bad, and I'm not talking about the lost tourists. A New York cabbie plying his trade here in SF said he's never seen such bad driving.
I moved here thinking it would be friendly, but compared to CA, it's surprisingly reserved. Maybe anyplace would be reserved compared to coastal CA, lol !
