However, as a hiker - Sept is one of the best months of the whole year. ALL the upper elevation trails are melted out, wide open, less crowded and almost no bugs. The berries and warm air smell amazing. Plus it's a bit cooler and you can get some very clear days for those never-ending views. It really doesn't start to rain significantly (generally) til Oct.
You and I are the same. Anything over 75 and I'm just done... can't handle it. I was just looking at the space bags full of fall/winter clothes the other day and crossing my fingers I could take them out soon.

Figures we'll be on vacation for two weeks in September so I'll miss some really good hiking.

Mid September's just about the nicest weather we get in Seattle. July and August are just a little too hot for my taste. And if there is moisture, it'll most likely be drizzle, which is great to walk around in. If it's raining, just take my grandmother's advice: Wear a hat.

Do you all get rain in Sept? It's just starting summer here in Aug. Sept is usually the best, IE hottest.

We don't get much rain in September, sometimes very little. But usually around mid September, we get some drizzly days. For me, best is definitely not hottest. Hot ( anything over, say, 72,) is just unbearable.

Summer here is normally July and August, and 2-3 weeks into September. We were lucky enough to get some earlier sunny days this year, but then some unusual August rain/thunderstorms. It hit 90 a couple of times which is unusual and not welcome for many of us, who live here in part because the summers are normally mild. Like some others have mentioned, mid-70s is perfect for me and the rain is no bother. One day this week I walked to the mile from bus stop to work in the rain and didn't even have a jacket with me, and didn't need one.

I might head to the beach one last time if we see another 80F day, but other than that I'm ready for autumn. I moved to Seattle because I miss the rain (from Oregon, lived in California for 10 years).

Not from around here eh? September usually has some of the best weather of the year. The brats are back in school and there are usually a lot of sunny days. Come up and enjoy.

BTW, here's what the 2nd week of September was like last year:
Sunday: High 80 Low 60 sunny
Monday: High 78 Low 59 sunny
Tuesday: High 77 Low 60 sunny
Wednesday: High 89 Low 63 sunny
Thursday: High 80 Low 60 sunny
Friday: High 68 Low 61 partly cloudy
Saturday: High 71 Low 62 partly cloudy

I have lived in Seattle most of my life. I can tell you that September is a really good weather month in Seattle. The weather does not really start to turn until the middle of October.
