I have received a job opportunity in Auburn area near Boeing complex. Having never been there I wanted to know which areas would be more suitable for me. I will be moving from DC area to Seattle if everything goes well. Basically:

I am looking to rent a house of 3 beds/2 bath and my budget is up to $2k. Safe area i.e. no shooting, gangs etc. Simply put, where kids can safely play in the streets. I like open suburbs.

Decent elementary school.

Close to some grocery stores. I don’t care about city life, pubs, bars etc.

What would be the commute like from your suggested area. I will be driving myself.

You can commute via Highway 18, or various back road arterials from Maple Valley. The schools in the Tahoma district are good, and rent reasonable. Covington is closer to work and lower rent but with all of the fast food and big box stores doesn't have the same family feel as Maple Valley, and is in the Kent School District, not as good as Tahoma.
