Hello there,

I am moving to Bellevue very soon, and will be looking for an apartment.

I asked in another threads about it, however I am lacking the overall picture of the major neighbourhoolds in Bellevue. If you are quite familiar with it, I would love to hear.

My questions is:
What are the major neighbourhoods in bellevue? What are they famous for and who lives there (demographically)? Which areas do the young crowds go most often?

Thanks!

Despite the huge growth over the last decade, at its core Bellevue is still a family-oriented and car dominated suburb. The only neighborhood with any semblance of walkability and vibrancy is downtown. Within downtown there are several neighborhoods (more like pockets actually) such as Old Bellevue, Ashwood, the Bellevue Collection, and the Financial District. The first two are where the majority of the residents live but the nightlife is still lacking. For someone your age who’s new to the area and wants to be at the center of it all, I’d strongly recommend living in Seattle instead. Downtown Bellevue has a lot of amenities and is extremely convenient if you work there but I wouldn’t recommend it to those who are looking for an active social scene.

For access to "young crowds", with still a decent commute to Bellevue, look at the U District and upper Capitol Hill (14th to 19th).

Downtown Kirkland by the water can attract a younger crowd than Bellveue. The real youngens go to Pike/Pine area of Seattle (near Capitol Hill).
