According to The Seattle Times, Mayor-Elect Durkan said, "“We really can show what it looks like when progressive values are put into action,” she said, adding, “Donald Trump, keep your hands off Seattle.”

Since he became President, Donald Trump has visited places that have experienced natural disasters, terrorist attacks, and mass murders. For example, he visited Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico after the hurricanes and flooding disasters in those regions, and Las Vegas after the mass shooting. The mass shooting in Texas happened after President Trump departed for his trip to Asia, so he was unable to go there immediately, but Vice President Pence did visit Sutherland Springs today to meet with survivors and victims' families, and it is likely that President Trump will make a visit to the site of this mass murder after his return from Asia.

Seattle, as most people are aware, is a city that could potential suffer from a natural disaster, particularly an earthquake or a lahar from an eruption of Mount Rainier, a huge volcano that is still active and could erupt. Seattle is described in this article as one of 5 Cities That Will Be Wiped Off the Map by Natural Disasters.

Therefore, if one of the disaster scenarios described above, or some other disaster, occurred in Seattle, would Mayor Durkan refuse to meet with President Trump if he came to Seattle, or reject any aid and assistance offered by his administration?

The way she talks... I don't think so, it will be same as E. Murray if not even worst. One thing for sure, it's a what Seattle's folks voted for and suburbs gonna share the pain through the dark days to come.

Business as usual. She's more or less Mayor Murray part deuce.

I'd like to hope I'm wrong. But for now, I anticipate housing affordability issues to continue to worsen, increases in crime and homelessness, and more regressive tax proposals/increases (i.e - sales and property taxes) to fund "efforts" towards such issues (which inevitably, won't bring in enough dough, and the cycle continues).

Durkan was the most moderate of the choices, good thing that she got elected. I don't think there will be any serious movement toward additional taxes in Seattle, I'd like to think the politicians (semi) learned their lesson after Amazon called their bluff with the second headquarters search.

And as far as getting the Seattle Sonic's back, what will the current Mayor do for you with raspberry-filled donuts and Starbuck's coffee today? The answer. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I'm going to throw in my 2 cents worth here. Expect to see higher taxes and other costly progressive programs being rammed down everyone's throats. With the state level now solid D, the city level will be more emboldened to push through taxes everywhere possible. There may even be a push for a state income tax.

Other thing that just baffles me is how everyone is raving about Seattle now having a female mayor, both of the finalists are women (I'm not aware that either one have chosen a different pronoun to identity themselves with other than female), so in the end, it was going to be a female mayor regardless who wins.

Seattle and Washington at large will become full socialist. Expect higher taxes, more bums, more crime, and breakdown in social order.

Poor Seattle. Just be glad Sawant didn’t run. I am sure she has higher aspirations.

Seriously. If Conservatives want a win in Washington they're going to need to come up with more of a Sam Reed / Dan Evans type candidate. Just pushing whackos on the state isn't winning. Sorry, guys.

People voted for this. Do you honestly think a majority of voters filled in the Democrats' circles thinking "gee whiz I hope they don't raise taxes"? They won't ram it down my throat because I have already swallowed the social responsibility it will take to educate the next generation of Washingtonians.
