Actually yes. For example, Dhingra made this statement:

"I have clearly stated multiple times in newspapers such as the Seattle Times, The Stranger and in other publications that I do not support the implementation of a state income tax and that such a policy [has] already been deemed unconstitutional.”

She would not have made that statement if she didn’t think not making it would be damaging.

Except "socialist" countries have almost no crime and homeless.

I assume you are referring to Scandinavian countries, which are pretty small and have pacifist cultures to begin with. However, crime has skyrocketed in Sweden due to the influx of Muslim refugees and immigrants.

And still their crime doesn't even come close to the crime in the US.

That is not remotely true. There are far fewer homeless but property crime is a problem in many social democracies.

Why help the opposition bring out their voters. A carbon and/or capital gains tax is more likely.

I'd be in favor of an income tax, if it was tied to a one-to-one reduction in the sales tax, to add more progressivity, rather than more revenue. They'll wait to see how Seattle's test case does in the Washington State Supreme Court.

What was egregious was Republicans shoving through a one-sided property tax, under threat of a state shutdown, to stick mostly "blue" high-COL property owners with the bill for McCleary. The advisory vote the House put on the ballot swung 60% against vs. 40% for.

Rots, pretty clear Jenny Durkan had to speak some populist language to make it through, that's just insightful politics. The "establishment" business community seems rather pleased she got elected, meaning she is no socialist. I think she may prove over time to be a breath of fresh air. And YES, as Crazy notes below, free "heroines", (a woman admired or idealized for her courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities). I suspect though, a woman of this quality couldn't be free. It warms my heart to know this is what you are seeking, you are a good man .
