I have another Seattle medical appointment on Thursday, December 1. I'm coming from Olympic Peninsula for a early morning appointment & trying to decide which vehicle & route to take. I had an appointment yesterday as well, and the "real time" Seattle weather was much less severe than what NWS said, although Monday appt. was later in day & in a more forgiving area of Seattle than upcoming appt. TIA

Today was very grey/dark, blustery, wet (lots of standing water in roads), and snowy. Not slick, it was too warm for that, but just a difficult day to see on the roads.

Thursday looks to be more of the same, colder than today (Weather.com for 98101 says 34 degrees F Thursday morning), with AM snow showers.

I went from downtown Seattle to Shoreline today at 4:30 PM and I-5 was intensely gridlocked the entire way. I ended up going through Roosevelt and up Lake City Way. Took me around 45 minutes to go that far, typically that could be a 15 minute drive, or so.

I'd say give yourself an extra hour, take the AWD or 4WD.

If you're coming in from the ferry and going up to First Hill, maybe plan out a couple routes in advance just in case James and Madison are too slick to get up. Try familiarizing yourself with Coleman Dock to Dearborn Street to Boren Avenue, that will likely be an easier snowy route into First Hill (less gradient overall).

Seattle is fine, you can search google for traffic cams and see that it's just wet, above freezing and no snow. We have 4" and it's not been plowed but we are at 600' in Sammamish. I have to get my wife to a medical appointment at 8am so it will be an adventure. You really can't go by the forecasts, it changes too frequently and is often wrong. I would just plane ahead well and be ready for the worst just in case, since the current forecast for Seattle on the news just now is 26F and snow tomorrow.

^^Thanks. Monday I was at Swedish Issaquah but tomorrow it's Wallingford. So, 4WD for me, I guess. Good luck to your wife.

We made it to Swedish Issaquah this morning, really nasty in our neighborhood but fine after that. Then about noon the snow came down hard with big flakes and another 2" fell since. I just spoke to someone at work in Seattle near the waterfront and it's just rain there today.
