I will agree with this, also not even close to the crime in Oakland, LA or many other big cities. Still, more crime when compared to other areas of Seattle and the eastside.

Des Moines is a great neighborhood, who for chris sakes told you otherwise. So is Normandy Park.

Des Moines has many neighborhoods - some better then others. Anything around North Hill and near the N.P. border is probally OK - as is areas near the water. Closer to 99 is an area to avoid.

Just can't see how someone can call a city that stretches from south of S. 272nd all the way up to S. 200th a monolithic "neighborhood".

i live in Des Moines, moved here in early May. I live near Kent Des Moines Road - about halfway between the marina and 99. i think the area is delightful. Like anywhere in Seattle, there's good and bad - but overall i like the area.
