So we moved to Seattle from the Midwest and have been wanting to make some of those eggs cooked inside the bread things, as well as some good ol thick bread French Toast, but cannot for the life of us find some thick (3/4 inch or greater) Texas toast. They were everywhere in the Midwest, but Fred Meyers or Safeway are a no go.

Are we too far from Texas? Lol.

*I've looked for something similar but with a different name, but even the "big" slices of bread are only half the thickness of texas toast.

Have you look into the Asian stores? There are some Asian stores that make their own bakery and offer those thick cut bread. You could also look into the Asian bakeries itself.

I know the Bellevue Uwajimaya does offer it (but can't remember if Renton's or Seattle does) and Hmart sometimes would have it out.

There's a Oroweat Entenmann's day-old bread store on Bel Red road and 134th Ave in Bellevue that had this a while back. You could call them to find where it's sold near you.

I recently started making bread myself, and found that it's not really that hard. :-) You can slice it however you want, then.

I've seen Texas Toast at the Safeway in Westwood (Roxbury & 28th SW). Never tried it though.

I have seen the Texas Toast at Safeway in Issaquah. You can also order it from AmazonFresh.

If you can find a normal-sized Wal Mart (not the one in Renton), they should have it.
