Its a shame the state of maryland has so much history and so much to offer, but the liberalness has ruined the state....i live on the eastern shore of md...which is quite different then the western shore. The eastern shore is rural farmland, fishing villiages, politically conservative where a lot of the western shore that centers around baltimore city, pg county, etc...is where the socialist beauracrats and liberals reside. None the less the socialist rules that are made on the western shore affects us on the eastern shore. I remember delmarva was trying to branch off and be its own state which would be pretty daggon cool.
Yeah. I have been around MD pretty well, but not so much in more recent times. I could almost suffer a Md Summer and live there if not for draconian law. Nice place to visit except in summer, but live there, not a chance for me.
To the secessonists I will leave you with this quote:
“If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”
Samuel Adams, (1722-1803)
U.S. Founding Father
Don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out!
You used Sam's quote in the exact opposite manner from which it was meant.
Texas has everything it needs to go out on its own. Aside from Texas, I think most states would refrain unless a block of states acted in unison. The talk is interesting but I just don't see it happening anytime soon.
Besides, it would likely be playing into the hands of those who have actively been working on implementing martial law for the past number of years.
If Texas went a lot of other states would go with them, leaving the helpless, plain helpless. It would be better to just cut off the helpless states. Typically welfare states.
With a strong central (read federal) government, secession cannot happen, not anymore than a puppy can get out of a locked house.
The only way for a state or region to eventually secede would be to achieve 'devolution' first, but since most secessionists are right-wing, Xtian whack-jobs, they would simply assume that devolution is some combination of 'devil' and 'evolution' and thus not touch it with a ten-foot pole and the Liberal elitist nut-jobs would win again.
As in united in support of governmental expansion? If you believe that, I have a really nice bridge to sell you.
