Even without sugar, the honey will keep infection to a minimum.
Compared to the above, your fears of a comet and your plans to lead your band of merry men in one of the most densely populated states seems almost rational.

I wouldn't hesitate to use honey for its antibacterial properties on wounds. Greeks, Romans and other ancient civilizations used it. Many herbs have those properties too, and more, and can be used for that and other purposes. Some of them are our common culinary herbs, like oregano for example.

The Iceman was carrying a type of mushroom with anti-inflammatory properties that he was probably using to treat his arthritis. It's amazing to me that ancient people discovered natural treatments without understanding how or why they worked. He had another type of mushroom that was used as a fire starter.

Every survivalist should know how to make use of natural remedies, IMO.

I agree the honey should be a staple in survival. NorEasta was correct that my minimum 1500 is too calorically low in survival as an adult will lose weight and in time compromise survival . Shooting for 2000-2500 calsal for long-term survival ( if resources are available). Americans would be lucky to sustain themselvesthemselves on a 1200 calories as well as children. Why? Lack of preparedness to a point of very short-term survival.

The LDS Basic Four consists of dried milk, wheat, honey, and salt. It's easy enough for humans to thrive without meat but not without fat, protein, and complex carbohydrates. These provide the many necessary vitamins and minerals as well that prevent malnutrition.

There is no single magic food just as there is no single cure for every illness, no single item that prevents illness and death, and no single investment that provides guaranteed prosperity. Life is a challenge; life always has been and always will be a challenge. Those who seek the one perfect anything are no different from those whose dream is to do nothing but wait for their government pension/welfare/wages. People who survive in the present or who have a chance in any possible future take responsibility for their lives. Those who do not do this do not survive.

Honey's nice, I'd not be without quite a bit of it, but it's expensive. You might want to look at molasses for a chunk of your preps.
