I don’t know how many others have noticed the same thing but “every time” I shop at WalMart (and it’s not often) the price at the cash register and checkout is different then the price on the shelf. This happens every time I’m there getting several items at least one of those items will be different by 5~20 cents more. Never is the price lower at the checkout ~ always higher.
I’ve noticed this problem of shelf price and checkout price difference only one other time that wasn’t a WalMart. It has forced me when going there to write down all the shelf prices before going to the register just to make sure I’m not being taken for extra money. I try and stay away from WalMart all together, but there are some occasions when it’s the only choice.

That's too bad there are no other choices. I am proud to say I have never shopped at a Wal-mart, and I never will.

I find that to be true not only in Walmart, but in many many supermarkets , such as Stop n Shop. I guess they figure that we just won't notice & they're right, I hardly ever do catch them until I get home and then it is too late to bother going back.

I'm old enough to remember Life Before Scanners.
I've caught several supermarkets with this error, and I try to always keep track of the prices during checkout.
It's infuriating to get all the way home and see a discrepancy.
Bloom (part of Food Lion) is pretty bad. Earth Fare had their fare share of incorrect prices when I worked there. NC sends people in to inspect the accuracy. Pep Boys is actually almost always the worst offender.
I've actually had more problems at other stores than Walmart.
Pubix has a policy, that if you catch the error, you get that item for free. So I watch carefully.
