Books, if you know the genre the recipient likes, are good. Fun socks are great. Food and drink, again only if you know what the recipient likes.
I was gifted some food this year. I will not eat it, because they are cookies, flavored bottled coffee drinks containing high fructose corn syrup (I drink bullet proof coffee, so they thought this would be a "treat"), high carb crackers, and milk chocolate. I do not eat refined carbs. Neither do my kids, so I can't give it to them. I suppose I will take it into work and put in the break room and see if there are any takers.
