I do wonder why the price of gas is going down, but not the price of groceries or the 'fuel surcharge' on airflights. Food producers were quick to raise the prices of food because of rising fuel costs...
I had the same thought. Good old greed is at work. Once the prices go up on things like food, you can be sure they won't come down. In fact from what I'm reading, food prices will continue to go up regardless of gas prices because farmers aren't growing vegetables, they are growing corn, which is more profitable. Feed prices also continue to escalate so meat prices go up and up. I think grocery retailers and their suppliers escalated the prices last summer when fuel was $4/gallon knowing the food prices would never go down. Part of the cost of food is transportation, but fewer farmers producing fruits and vegetables also creates higher prices. It's becoming apparent that nothing in the produce section is less than a $1.00/lb, unless it's a short-term weekly sale to get you in the door, and $1.00/lb or higher is outrageous for things like cabbage, squash, potatoes, onions, etc, which have always been relatively inexpensive staples, until this past year. I also found that the farmer's markets last summer were outrageous, in spite of no middle person to jack up the price. Even during apple season this past fall, $1.50/lb for apples was considered a huge sale! I think it's a rip off.
Gas prices here are oscillating between $1.59 and $1.79, depending on the station. I've never seen below $1.59, even when oil was @ $33. I did see one of the cheapest diesel prices I've seen in a very long time a few days ago....$2.19.
Saw $1.80 today up from 1.50 just before the new year...
Here in New jersey, gas price is $1.51 its keep on changing everyday. Last 2 weeks back it was $1.39 but in a week it shoot upto $1.59 and now little bit down.
I paid $2.20 a gal today.Wasnt very long ago it was $1.68 a gallon.Gas will continue to rise & the greedy oil companies will continue to earn billions just like those bastards of OPEC.

If the state law makers who are dumb enough to propose such have their way..CA. will see a .12 cent a gallon increase to the gas tax..Add this to the 2.25 gas was today..or the 2.50 im sure we're headed for..just plain stupid..
I can't understand, crude oil prices have gone down significantly since they peaked at around $70 a barrel last year, but now they're down to $34 a barrel yet the price of gasoline is increasing.. and yet OPEC and oil companies have reported billions in profits last year, while other American companies are struggling and they're laying off employees in droves. Something just doesn't add up. Sounds like greed to me.
If they want a good economic stimulus, they should put a cap on gas prices otherwise we'll never see that recovery everybody is hoping for.
What's interesting to me is that Diesel prices have been steady, it's just gas going up. Maybe because with the spring the demand for heating oil is decreasing, this is stabilizing Diesel prices?
Gas in Eastern Washington got as low as about $1.60 back in January, now it's around $2.20.
Alot depends on the state and where your gasoline is refined. West Texas crude is much lower than most other including Canadian crude . Those refineries that have no pipeline from west Texas pay more for their crude and that is not going to change as no pipeline and the amount is too Small being produced. In fact the amount of crude being produced in the USA will be dropping because its much more expensive to produce especially off shore.
