that one play completely turned them off. he got touched while trying to do something in front of various defenders and in no position to score or make a play, and is awarded a game winner.
Then you and your friends are just clueless about how football works. Whether Robben was in a scoring position or not is completely irrelevant. The score or the time are also irrelevant factors. The only thing that matters is whether or not there was a foul committed inside the box. In this case, a player tackled Robben in order to prevent him from coming into a scoring position. It was a light foul, and taken in isolation most refs probably wouldn't give a penalty for that, but considering the fact that the ref already denied The Netherlands two possible penalties before, it is perfectly understandable why he decided not to give Mexico the benefit of the doubt the third time. And if Mexico hadn't allowed The Netherlands to get back into the game in the second half, they could have still gone through despite the penalty. Fact is that we were better in the second half despite losing one of our best players early in the game and despite being a goal down. Mexico couldn't hold on to a lead and they only have themselves to blame for that. In football, you can never rest on your laurels, plenty of games are decided in the last minutes of extra time.
that's some pretty compelling stuff you got going on there, I know they all cheat on the free kicks a little bit but that Greek goal keeper really seemed to start moving way early on every kick, for all the good it did him
Costa Rica still kicking butt. They were so fatigued and limping but they hung in there despite the Greeks going all out. The Greeks went total football on them.

Please don't put Greece and total football in the same sentence.

If they find a way to beat the Netherlands, that would be the biggest upset in the quarter-finals by far.
I still think this cup will go to an American team.
