SC's unemployment rate ticked up a tenth of a percentage point in December, 2010, but the state added more jobs than any state but Texas in 2010. It was a mixed bag as far as growth in the labor markets of the state's three main metros during the year was concerned, but overall the state seems headed in the right direction for sure. Between growing our own companies that are being born out of research, and luring companies to set up here, we might tame the beast yet.
You beat me to it! Seriously, very good news despite the small but confusing uptick in the state's unemployment rate.
Good news considering the uptick in unemployment and announcements like this closure in West Columbia:

Amazon will probably lead UPS to add to their 1700+ remaining employees here.
Anybody who believes this please step forward...I am offering the borough of Manhattan for sale, it will only cost you $25!
Then again SC held the 3rd position as the state with the worst unemployment rate for a long time during this recession so I would hope that it begins replacing the jobs that were lost...but won't hold my breath and wait on it!
