It appears H&M will be in Magnolia Mall but not at the old Sears location. The home furnishings retailer mentioned in the article is rumored to be Home Goods.

At Magnolia Mall, the former department store space is fully leased. PREIT has executed leases for the 28,500 square foot remainder portion of the former Sears location – Five Below and an off-price home furnishings and accessories retailer join Burlington in the former Sears box. The 20,000 square foot off-price home furnishings retailer and the 8,500-square foot Five Below will open in Spring 2018.
Also at Magnolia Mall, popular fast fashion retailer H&M will open a 20,000-square foot store in Fall 2017. Following this remerchandising initiative, Magnolia Mall occupancy is forecast to exceed 99.0%.

I don't see Magnolia Mall becoming a "dead mall" anytime in the near future, even with online commerce. Given it's proximity to two interstates, and it's location on the west side of town this mall is sheltered from being in a declining, blighted or crime-ridden area (something that is hurting Citadel Mall in W Ashley near Charleston). That said, PREIT better not skimp on security. One thing that can severely hurt the mall is a few high profile criminal incidents giving the mall an"unsafe" reputation. Things often go downhill from there.

Very true.. I used to frequent Magnolia Mall in the 90s and it almost went into the "unsafe" Mall category.. but the ownership/management nipped it in the bud just in time. That along with the fact that its the only "mall" within an hour radius of Florence.. yes.. I don't think Sumter Mall is any comp.. and Myrtle Beach Outlets are in a category in and of themselves. Not to mention locals of the Pee Dee don't want to fight traffic to get down to Myrtle Beach during the summers nor head over to Columbia when there is a mall with similar amenities in town...
Went there yesterday and was pleasantly impressed. There was a lot of activity and people moving about shopping and dining. PREIT the owners of the mall has done an outstanding job in keeping this Mall relevant. Wouldn't surprise me if they ever decide to expand. It appears to be doing just that well to do so.
