Hello to all. I am visiting St. Louis this weekend for my first time. I want to stay somewhere that is convenient and safe. Can anybody recommend an area that is not too far from all the main attractions but in a safe area. I have a car so I don't mind commuting. I just don't know which suburbs I should look. I am assuming that hotels downtown are very expensive. Thanks so much!

If there is no Cards game or other major event downtown hotels can be had for reasonable prices. Check there first-especially on Priceline. Otherwise, look at Clayton.

There are a few hotels off I-44 and Hampton that are very convenient to the city attractions if you prefer not to stay downtown. I second that priceline is a great option. When I have friends in town, I suggest the bid for a 3 star hotel in downtown, and start around 50.00 per night. Often, they end up with a very sweet deal!

I would recommend staying in the Central West End or Clayton. The Central West End will have more going on.
