Not surprised about Tampa being sad. It's been on those "depressed" lists before.

I'm shocked.

One I have been on numerous occasions even for a funeral or two and have never witnessed "Sadness" in or around the people of Tampa. Interesting

But to the Original Post. Really? A Mens Magazine? What about the women or Children of Tampa Bay Area? What about the the fact that a lot of people in Tampa are originally from other places. Of course their not going to be quite as happy. Tampa still has a lot of growing to do as well as St. Pete! I don't buy it one bit. I've been there plenty and seen people jogging, dog parks, dog beaches, at the beach

It's interesting to read non-scientific individual opinion dismissing factual evidence, though ignorance is bliss I suppose.

Coming from someone who believes everything from a mens magazine.

Really? You believe these kinds of surveys?

Why do people continually post this dribble? All of these surveys mean absolutely nothing and many of them contradict themselves.

so # of suicides is grounds for calling a city the "saddest?"

maybe the dumbest, but not the saddest.

These lists are rubbish. A few days ago there was some item in the news about world's most livable cities or something to that effect, and not one city in their top 20 was in the US. I don't know how they come up with that stuff, but obviously it ought to be taken with a grain of salt. Or a tablespoon.

There are so many of these dumb lists around - here is one from Forbes from February of this year - 20 "most miserable" cities. You will see that St. Pete/Tampa is not on there, and almost HALF are in California:

In Pictures: America's 20 Most Miserable Cities - No. 1 Stockton, Calif. - Forbes.com

What I ask here is this: if you were happy before where you are living, do you suddenly become "sad" or "miserable" because you read that your city was on some list?

I make my own lists, and on my list I am living in the best city in the United States - for me, that is.

Also, how would they know how many households are "on antidepressants"? Is that not confidential information? I guess they got it from pharmacies.
