You guys need to rename USF to something else. (Clearwater: home, universities)

I'm not sure what the issue is. Who says that "south Florida" only consists of the southernmost portion of Florida? Miami is obviously in south Florida but that's not to say that Ft. Meyers or Sarasota or even Tampa are not. Where does the border for "south Florida" end? If anybody cares, I vaguely recall reading something that USF was thus named because at the time of its creation, it was the southernmost public university in FL. Seems logical to me. If you look at FL, the "halfway" area could arguably be Tampa with anything north of it being "north Florida."

How about "University of the Middle of Florida but on the Western Side not Counting the Panhandle (Because That's Really Alabama)"? or UMFWSCPBTRA

You don't have to be embarrassed by something in order to justify tweaking or rebranding it to align with modern times. Let's face it, Tampa stands to gain from USF's growing national recognition. I agree that it would be smart of Tampa to capitalize on it by putting Tampa in the name.

Look, if the USF name bothers you this much...and ruins your "Tampa Experience", then maybe you should move to Jacksonville, they have University of North Florida there, and Jacksonville is truly "North" of Florida! They got it right!

You are barking at the wrong tree. If it bothers you this bad, then call them up, and ask them to change it. "I" can't change it, nor care about it all that much. I think its silly.

Can we go back to the toll on 275 now? cause that's more immediate, and can actually hurt our wallets a lot more than changing USF's name.

Terrible. The other gulf coast states would pitch a fit.

Name it U of Tampa Bay (screw U of Tampa) and be done with it. Not the best name, but it makes the most sense.

I told the other poster that your views should not ruin Tampa for him. After all, you're from Europe and live in Pittsburgh. On that note, I'm not sure how a toll on 275 would hurt your wallet. You live in Pittsburgh.

Anyway, like I said in my last post, I didn't go to USF, so I don't care that it's not in south Florida. But, if I did go there, I'd probably be on the re-branding bandwagon. (To another poster, I don't know where the south Florida line is, but I know it's south of the bay area.)
