Hi. I am having my 90 year old father visit later this month. Although he can walk some he cannot walk long or far. I plan on taking him on one of the dolphin sightseeing cruises out of Clearwater. Any other sightseeing suggestions you may think of would be appreciated. We live in the northern section of the area. Thanks

Schedule of Events : Ruth Eckerd Hall : Clearwater & Tampa, Florida

Straz Performing Arts has a few things going on as well (visit their website). You can drop him off at the front door so he won't have to walk that far.

Hi there! I was googling the same thing and found your post. I'm on crutches myself but still want to find fun things to do. I haven't found anything that doesn't involve running away from people in costumes yet. But if he is back for the 4th of July, the Fl Aquarium had a great "cruise" (really just a very large boat) for the sunset and the Channelside fireworks this year. I would do it again in a heartbeat. There are stairs. But if I can do them on crutches then maybe he could handle them too.

Take him over the Skyway Bridge, it's great engineering, then over to Ft. DeSoto.

There is a museum in Bradenton which has some live manatees in a pool/tank. The keepers feed them and they are fun to watch.

There are boats which give demonstrations of sponge diving up in Tarpon Springs.

If he can handle a longer ride, you can go up to Weeki Watchee.
