Personally, for fast food, I think the best burger goes to Checkers. For a sit-down meal, it goes to the Pine Grove Restaurant since they have the Goody Goody burger.

Not Five Guys burger over priced and not really worth it. At least the one in Lakeland isn't that great.

Five Guys is more like a Johnny Rockets (the one here was terrible but CT and NV were awesome). I've yet to find good pizza here though.
I think this is, in reality, the truth. InNOut is a great business idea and culture (the *secret menu* is the best) but the food really is just average.

I start going to the independent, drivethru only type places that I find. They are similar to the "Five Guys" idea that people have mentioned.

The other thing to do is, if you travel, to go to places you see the local car clubs hang out in. These aren't InNOuts. They could be more sitdown places but more often than not they're at these Independent places.

Default Ted Peters believe it or not

Having just moved back from California to central Florida..Five Guys is close but not as good as Inn N Out. Inn N Out toasts their bun and their burger meat comes from their own plant. My understanding is that is also the reason you only have Inn N out in CA, AZ, and NV. That's as far their trucks can go from their burger processing plant and keep the meat fresh.

If you want to support the Mom and Pop places..try Ted Peters in South Pasadena near Gulfport. They make a decent cheeseburger and instead of fries..order the German potato salad.

Just my .02

I gave up trying to find a good burger place and just make my own. I like a burger with a toasted bun doesn't get as soggy.

Florida needs a good burger place.

Have you been to one of the Green Iguana establishments? They make a killer burger...also they're sister property Hula Bay.

Nothing compares to In N' Out. I wish they had them here. We need to get a franchise here. To my knowledge they are only in California, Arizona and Nevada.

I think it's cool that they've stayed in one area. It's always fun to go to another part of the country and see all these unfamiliar companies.
