Parts of the West have been hit. I still hear on the TV 7000 a month are moving into the Vegas area.....the catch is they never say how many are leaving I've been here since the 60's and it's always been a very transient population. Many come from Ca. or from northern and mid western states.

Good news,

I interviewed for a position at the VA medical center in JC, I'll know something in 3 weeks, only bad thing is that it only pays $11 per hour. I'll take it, if offered, because I'd like to get into the medical field.

I received a phone call from a very pro military company with a job offer today, but the job offer is for Kansa city, MO with Norfolk Southern railway. If I take it, it'll pay over $50,000 per year and start in June.

Decisions, decisions.

Tony

Hi Tony,
Congrats on an accept! That is a good sign.
How did it go with the Edwards place? Where you able to get in touch with them?
Sorry the others didn't work out.

I have to say that I am shocked by this. I've often said that it isn't always easy getting a job, but...

I thought that Tony would since he really is a southern boy AND he is ex-military.

That is just crazy. Tony, you had to get the one jerk in the state of Tennessee that won't hire military.

As everyone else has said, this is one guy you wouldn't want to work for, anyway!

Hey Tony,
This is just me, but I'd take the 50k in in Kansas City. I've heard really great things about that city. My old house mate is from there and seemed to go on and on about it. It has more fountains than anywhere in the country and 2nd internationally to Rome. It has decent weather and what's more- it is OFF the radar of relo's for now... so the price of housing there is MUCH cheaper. Go for it!

Silverbox,

I REALLY wanted to move to TN, and I hope that I still can.....eventually.

I'm 95% sure I'll be taking the job in Kansas City, the good news is that I'm sure that there will be an opening with my future company in either Knoxville or Chattanooga, TN that I will be able to transfer to. It may take a year or two, but when it happens, I'll have the best of both worlds, a pro military organization, good pay and be able to settle down in TN.

Wish me luck, I'm nervous about going into a new job, but it has great pay and super benefits, better than the military and better than any of the jobs I've been considering thus far.

Plus I'll have ample upward mobility in the company, maybe I'll break the 6 figure ceiling in a few years.

Tony

I'm happy for you Tony, but I'm still stunned at that idiot's attitude. Please don't think it's a prevalent mindset. He's an exception!!

Hope you get the boss you deserve. They'll be lucky to have you.
