Great for Waco. I hope the financing is secure. Tyler had some big plans a little over two years ago. I watched planning and zoning on the cable and saw plans for 6 buildings ranging form 16-22 floors for a planned community and resort near Lake Bellwood next to the Cascades Development. But with the near financial colaspe all plans are off, and probably never to be done.

But that would be really neat for Waco as it appears now. Hope it works.

Actually some of the buildings have already been built in Waco and some are still being built. The difference is lots of development going up around Waco is mid-rise building compared to what was planned for Tyler.

What good would that do...seriously?

Well because downtown is a nightlife destination for Baylor students. The bus system sucks and plus, people would prefer rail over the bus.

I really hope those plans materialize. It would unquestionably be great for Waco and Baylor. Securing financing (for anyone, anywhere) is really difficult right now. The City of Waco may need to sell some bonds in order to get those projects off the ground.

I'd also be looking to get some smaller corporate relocations down to Waco to spur some development.

That's how downtown Dallas got all its parking lots. Those were once buildings, then they were demolished for a planned development that never happened.

I really hope these things get off the ground for Waco. It would be really cool if Waco turned into the next hotspot for development when the economy turns around.

Came across this thread again and thought it needed to be bumped with the new Baylor Stadium being built along the Brazos right off of 35.

Any news of future development since the stadium announcement?

Waco signature bridge, a new 4st. apartment building going up downtown, a new riverboat will be starting next year, and Baylor student housing expansion. There's also talk about a new luxury hotel that's in the works and may become the city tallest.
