It's 39 here in Lubbock, and the low is supposed to be in the low teens tonight. Quite the contrast to the almost summer-like weather I experienced in Houston last weekend.

The front rolled though a little over an hour ago, and now it's 64 in SA. It felt almost like summer ahead of the wind gusts from the north.

The high here in Ft Worth was at midnight, when it was 74 F. Now it's 34 F and dropping like a rock.

What weird temperature spreads.....

27 in Alamo this morning, windchill of 16.

It gets even weirder in the Davis Mts area:

Alpine: 24
Marfa: 19
Ft Davis: 34

It seems weird that Ft Davis would be that much warmer!

According to the data on this site, Marfa has hotter summers and colder winters than either Alpine or Ft Davis. I wonder why. A microclimate, perhaps? Or maybe it's just on the west side of the local mountains.

I've been wondering about that myself for quite some time--you'd think that Ft Davis, with it's higher elevation and being north of both Marfa and Alpine--would always be a little colder!

I'm ready to go back down there!
