Very true. The OP should try spending the night in Compton California or east LA for example. Propably wouldn't live through the experience.

Pecos has what, 30 people living there? I'm not sure what you were expecting to find out in the middle of West Texas. A Six Flags?

On the other hand, the Pecos River High Bridge near Langtry is a sight to behold!

Pecos River Railroad Bridge and Langtry Texas Scenic Overlook.

Not everything named Pecos in Texas is lacking.

I think that should be amended to read:

But they had GREAT cantaloupe... once upon a time. I haven't seen a Pecos cantaloupe in the stores in years, whereas they used to be readily available.

Here's an article that goes a long ways toward explaining why the cantaloupe industry is in decline.

Pecos is a bit of a slum. The town should try to clean up all those abandoned buildings. Went to dairy queen last night and watched an emplyee eat her lunch while she made my icecream cone. Gross.....people here are rude.

It was a very unpleasant experience, I never will stop in Pecos again!
