Nightlife (the partying kind, not including late night eating which Houston is excellent at) is actually an area where I find Houston punches way below its weight.

Just because Uptown Dallas is more urban then any area in Houston doesn't mean it offers more. But that's ya opinion I find Houston nightlife much better then Dallas. I dont look for a replica of Uptown, what I do look for is an area that I enjoy as much which I could not find (at least from a nightlife/partying perspective).
Youre right, at the end of the day this is all opinion. I dont find either city boring, both serve different purposes to me. If I want to party, I would rather be in Dallas. If I want to go to festivals or cultural events, I would rather be in Houston.
