Yes, the concept of anchoring developments with sports venues just has never worked in North Texas. The Reunion development went bust. So did the area around the old Texas Stadium and the Glory Park retail development that was supposed to happen in Arlington.

But Victory Park has found its bliss lately. When the present projects under construction are finished, the area will be just about built out.

And even Hines is fishing around for a lead tenant for a new office building.

7. Close proximity to Love Field (and new terminal)
8. Loads of upscale Urban shopping close by
9. 40,000 residents living within what is considered the new 360 degrees downtown area
10. 40 million square feet of office space in both downtown and Uptown.
11. Southwestern Medical District
12. Baylor Medical Center

Because of the huge amount of retail in its vicinity, I would think Uptown Houston would be a better market for these kinds of hotels in the Houston area.
according to that list.. Houston should of had a W a long time ago...

its cool to make assumptions, like you assuming the reason Dallas isnt building as tall of buildings is because their office developments are more spread out (Exxon is building one of the largest construction projects in the country, over 3 million sq ft of office space, almost 30 miles outside of Houston.. oh and it consists of almost 20 buildings, all no taller than a few stories... not to mention the future Camp Strake development 40 miles outside of the core).. last i checked DFW has nothing like that anywhere close to those distances (past Denton for Exxon, and past Sanger/Pilot Point for the Camp Strake development), or you assuming Dallas once had the highest concentration of corporate HQs to residents due to some rumor you may have heard long ago, but at least represent your assumptions as so, and not facts..

Not really a tower, but a nice mid-rise addition to DT Corpus Christi, nonetheless. This is a new type of development for this city and hopes are up that this is what will help kick start revitalization downtown. A five story project is tall for this town since we haven't seen a high-rise project since the early 80's.

The Cosmopolitan

The old Lichtenstein building has been demolished already and concrete is beginning to be poured as we speak.

That is 1000 times better than the building sitting on the lot now!

This thread is about the towers of TEXAS, which includes all TX cities, and does not require debate regarding which city is best. There are already plenty of threads available on that subject! I've just had to do a lot of editing here. Please stay on topic, so this popular thread can remain open. Thanks!

From the terms of service:

Stay on topic. Attempts to hi-jack threads by switching topics or going off topic will be deleted and infractions issued. This is not a chat room - when people hi-jack threads by posting messages that are of interest to only few people, the threads often stop being useful discussions of initial topics.

Here is the link to the new construction cam for Hines 609 Main tower (the cam is mounted on the Chase tower)

Construction Camera: 609 Main at Texas

there will be around SEVEN other high-rises being constructed in this camera angle, along with 609 Main. 1400 Texas (28 story residential tower next to the new 500 Crawford apartments on this side of the baseball stadium), Marriott Marquis (29 story hotel), 6 Houston Center (30 story office tower), Block 98 (38 story residential tower next to Hess garage), Phase II of the Texaco building redevelopment (38 story residential), Hyatt Place (11 stories), and Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites (14 stories).
there will also be construction on at least three other blocks while this one (609 Main) is under construction, including the new HSPVA campus, a new parking garage/podium for a future hotel next to the convention center, and the Nau museum/heritage building.

so much for all those empty parking lots...
