As an alum, I'm interested to see how this plays out. I think it's amusing how A&M left and now they are trying to exert influence on this from outside of the conference. They know what will happen to their recruiting if UT and OU get in.

Grabbing plenty of popcorn for this.

Eh, I don't really care one way or the other, but it is funny to see the aggies squeal about 10 seconds after this hit the news...

They should just invite Houston into the Big-12 to replace them. That would actually elevate the level of play in both football and basketball

And invite BYU to replace OU.

In any event, I'm not sure why the SEC would want to go to 16 teams. They would just be splitting up the pie more ways and make it that much harder to ever win a conference championship in any sport.

Anyone who’s upset by the possibility is basically admitting the Big 12 is just the Red River Rivalry and their tag-alongs or an Aggie admitting they’re always afraid of playing second fiddle. Texas Tech/Lubbock and Oklahoma State/Stillwater would definitely feel the brunt of this and be knocking down the SEC’s doors. At that point, it’s only a matter of time before the SEC becomes unwieldily large. The Big 12 will basically be brought back as the western half of the SEC, or maybe such a large conference could form a performance-based tier system kinda like what football clubs in Europe do. As long as UT Athletics stays independent of academic funds, this alum couldn’t care less.

Personally I don't really see the point of a conference in which you don't even play half the teams in the conference every year as would happen with a 16+ team SEC.

The Supreme Court ruled a few weeks ago the NCAA rules for college athletes are illegal - this is step #1 of creating a dominant league for paid football players at the college level - their hand was forced. They aren't going to stick around in a league that doesn't maximize tv income.

There really won’t be any peace for schools comprising the B12 until UT and OU get their way. It’s time to let them leave and for everybody else to make do.

Which will matter to no one outside of the A&M and UT fan bases.
