You make an absolute statement based on anecdotes, no rankings, and no numbers, ignore Vanderbilt, but I shouldn't think that's bias? There is a world outside of Texas. By many metrics Florida is an equal and arguably above Texas if you take into account how highly ranked they are without the benefit of a PUF fund. AAU is great, but it isn't the end all be all. Dartmouth didn't join until 2 years ago.

With this sort elitism, I hope the SEC knows what they're taking in. And this isn't a UT guy.
UT Austin is ranked #33 in the world:

Vandy is great but Vandy is small. I ignored Vandy by mistake not bias.

If you want a ranking here is a really good one that ID's things like research, employment, faculty quality etc.

I'll save you time UT is #33, Vandy is #52, Florida is #85, Georgia is #201.

We cannot ignore PUF.

AAU membership matters. I just read The Big Ten probably won't consider expansion with schools outside the AAU.

The SEC knows exactly what it is getting.

It should be #1 given it’s resources.

ISU and KU are AAU accredited.
Nebraska was when they bolted to the Big Ten, but got kicked out of the AAU the following year by a vote of their fellow conference schools.

Almost every ranking will be subjective and will lean one way or the other depending on their criteria. Even in this ranking above--UT and Florida are 1 spot apart. To be perfectly clear, I'm not arguing that UT isn't great.....but leaps and bounds above every SEC school? Was Dartmouth not Ivy League before AAU? It's great, but let's stop acting as if it takes away from how great some schools are. Kansas is AAU, were they more prestigious than Dartmouth was before getting being designated?

Notre Dame isn’t AAU either. That’s why these rankings aren’t that credible. There are a finite set of accounting principles and all are taught at UT and UNT. That the level of instruction at one institution is far superior to that of the other is stretching it.

If this is finalized, I see West Virginia bolting to the ACC as the sixteenth member of that conference. It makes sense for geographical purposes. Iowa State to the big 10 is a longshot.
