its so nice living here - neighbors were out last couple days bringing homemade cookies, popcorn, breads and visiting. All our neighbors came by and dropped stuff - our former state we did not even know our next door neighbor after 30 years - a wave now and or maybe a hi.

texans are just friendly and happy and always wave or say hi - thank you yes sir etc- we are proud to call ourselves texans and glad we retired here.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL and thanks for all the great hospitality and friendship

This IS our culture...although some outsiders are trying to change it.

Glad you found it to your liking.

Well, I'm glad you like living in Texas. In some parts of this state like trendiest parts of Austin or Dallas, you might as well be surrounded mostly by out-of-state non-Southern transplants who are likely to be less welcoming and some if not many native Texans are heading to states like OK, AR, TN, NC/SC after getting priced out of their hometowns due to increasing property taxes and housing prices, which is sad to hear Some people get disappointed with not-so-very-Texan experience like rudeness expecting something like you're describing unless you're in more remotely located Texas cities like San Angelo or Victoria.

.....

.much like the mass of Texans that displaced many lifelong pioneer residents of Colorado since the 1960's and 70s. Texans had us gone from our lifelong Colorado home by 1980.

Austin is majority Texan relocations with California being the next highest state at only 8% of the relocations meaning a great majority of these relocations are domestic. Texans who purchased are not leaving. They are reaping sky rocketing appreciation along with those tax increases. It’s a sword that swings both ways.

Meanwhile, non-native transplants are ALSO considering places like TN, NC/SC, and even OK, AR along side with TX.

the big cities like austin the people are not very friendly or courteous as compared to living in a smaller town. we go to Austin 2-3 times a month to see the grandkids and i cant stand it for more that a day or two -
but all the small towns we visit are just the opposite.

Eh. I guess to each their own. Austin is way friendlier than the city I moved from. I guess I can see your point of comparing it to a small town.
