Sprawl...energy grid crashes...flooding due to not planning...I can go on and on

Yep..Texas politics is a cash grab today...ignore the future
Energy investment has been focused on the wind farms that now are supposed to produce 25% of our power needs.
How is that working out when the wind doesn’t blow?
Beto is trash and a fraud, just like Paxton & Cruz.

Solar + storage additions to the grid are what is planned by the majority of utilities along with additional wind installations. The era of any new base load coal power plants being built in the US is long over, and natural gas additions to the grid have dramatically declined in recent years.
Cost is the biggest advantage as solar and wind have both declined over 70% in cost in the last 6-10 years, and are cheaper than all new fossil generation builds on price alone.

I just happened to think people like Abbott and Ted Cruz are vile. (People are innocent, politicians should know better. )
You're not alone. Many, many, many Texans share your disgust with these two, and the nightmare that Texas politics has become. Don't think that just because Texas is officially a red state, that there aren't a multitude of blue-thinkers who would like BIG change. You were probably sitting amongst a lot of blue folk at the Roadhouse and didn't even know it! We look pretty normal.

California and the entire Midwest are at risk for rolling blackouts amid heatwaves. This is not an issue pertinent to ERCOT.

https://www.usnews.com/news/top-news...ts-this-summer

https://www.reuters.com/business/ene...rs-2022-06-10/

Joining the Eastern or Western Interconnect != we will have reliable power during peak loads in high heat / high load conditions. What screwed us over during the winter was not load but many stations were down for maintenance (standard for the winter season) and the lack of winterization.
Also in the event that we did join either interconnect and we were forced to buy power to keep reliability, that will not come for free. Your energy prices will SOAR much like they do in California.

https://gvwire.com/2021/09/22/califo...0other%20state.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/judecle...h=6ccd12ef4469

And in the event BETO gets his hands on the energy market, he will NOT be doing away with ERCOT. He will only manipulate it to satisfy his scheme for green energy. How about a ERCOT grid with half the power capacity while pushing for tax payers to buy solar on their own dime if they want reliable power? (such as what California is doing, ontop of adding a tax if you leave the grid) OR not providing an immediate reliable backup solution as they push for more wind / solar farms? This is what the rest of the country is doing as they shut down coal plants which is why the Midwest is also having problems amid the heat waves.

I don't agree with everything about ERCOT, but BETO is definitely not the answer to this problem.

Seems to me that a true republican wants the right to choose his supplier.
If you are socialist you might like California instead.
Personally, I like having my own wind and solar and battery system in my home.
My grid electric bills never reach over $100 a month. that because I run heavy machinery from time to time.
Months I don't do anything my bill is roughly $25. an that mostly is for the refrigerator and a fan or two.
I have a cast iron wood stove /oven for warming the house and cooking during the winter, I cook with propane gas during the summer.
I have never been rich, I've learned what works and pick my opportunities to better my self. I don't go on vacations or waste money on things I don't need.
I learned on my own to build my solar and wind and battery systems with out help of the internet. it's not that hard.

Blue “thinker” democrats, as mentioned above, are the ones who created the separate power grid and ERCOT.
Big change = bankrupt the state?

We do have the right and ability to choose our energy suppliers in Texas. The spam us with solicitations all the time.
You have a nice setup yourself.

Look at Ercot's graphs, come 4 and 5 o'clock, I don't see how we are going to make it.

I just looked. ERCOT is showing that between committed capacity and quick start capacity the grid will produce enough today assuming both components hold up.

Quick start is the shaded purple component.
