i have got to say Hwy 281 from Blanco to Lampasas and all the way up north has got to be one of the most beautiful drives in Texas! i have made that trip several times in the past month for relocation and the beauty just about brings tears to my eyes!
ok..........so what other Texas drives do yall like? nothing like a Texas road trip!!

Well, RR12 between Dripping Springs and Wimberley is absolutely gorgeous...if you aren't sick. HAHA. Driving up through East Texas around the lakes is also very gorgeous. Ok..that's the only places I've driven that are pretty.

oh yes...i always have Pat Green, Gary P Nunn, Jerry Jeff Walker, Billy Joe Shaver, Willie Nelson, Ben Atkins, Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, Trent Wilmon CD's in my truck!!!!

Highway 170 in the West Texas/Big Bend Country is my favorite...

great link! thank you so much for sharing. i cant wait to do that road trip. i do remember driving some highway through Van Horn and it was gorgeous. i cant imagine anything being prettier than that! but this one might be! will have to check it out. i have never been to Big Bend Country.

Ranch Road 337 between Medina and Vanderpool. Also, from Leakey to Camp Wood on RR 337. Heck, that encompasses all of RR 337 (Medina to Camp Wood).

45 south from Dallas past Ennis on toward Houston. I love how tall the trees get the further south you drive. And the highway with the grassy median adds to the greenery.

If you have never been to the Big Bend, please do visit one day. If you like rugged, isolated desert with mountains, it's just wonderful.

It's my favorite area in Texas.

The drive you mentioned is also quite pretty. I went through Lampasas on my way back to Midland from Austin! I covered quite a range of country from Farmington, NM all the way to the hill country!
