We are moving to the Tyler area. We have three children, one which lives for football. I have had a chance to look some at Whitehouse, Bullard, Jacksonville, and New Chapel Hill. We are looking to be close to Tyler yet be in one of the smaller towns around. What are some of the good and bad of the surrounding school systems in the area? Where do we get more house for our money? Which school has the best football program? We really want to be in a school that just has one High School. In our own experience more than one High School divides the town some and also can cause a drop in home value to the side without the new HS.
The folks I ran across in the Tyler area helped a ton with directions and advice already. Good people for sure. We are wanting to rent or lease something at first and find the right house over time.

Look in Lindale....a top rated school system in Smith County. Our football team went into district play this past season.

Here goes: Chapel Hill, maybe least expensive for home purchase.Recently in playoffs 3A Classification - One "largely" noted upscale subdivision, The Woods in Tyler. Very slow growth for school.

Whitehouse ISD. Most residents of the 4A School do not live in Whitehouse itself - growing - varied price range homes - many upscale - Very competive football team playoffs recently with new coach - new football field etc.
Very competive district with Jacksonville, Lindale, Nacogdoches, Henderson, Kilgore in district - Bi-District even more competive with teams in the top ten statewide every year Longview, Texarkana, Marshall etc.

Bullard, growing little town, struggling to "get going" with infrastruture challenge - building new sewer, water systems 3A football - becoming more competive will be small Div II 4A soon new football stadium etc. Again, most residents don't live in Bullard itself. Many upscale and moderate even lower price range houses. Most home for your "buck?" been in real estate as broker, that's a tuff call. Depends on your price range. Lower end, maybe just maybe Whitehouse with a larger selection, more to chose from - then maybe Lindale - small 4A in competive district with Whitehouse.

Jacksonville. Very small selection of newer homes to chose from - 4A competive football team - not in playoffs recently. Very slow growth in city itself - helps to be close to Tyler

Which is the "BETTER" school - rather not offend - and for sure, just opinion, so best bet is to check the school ratings by the "google" approach.

Need more information - especially on Tyler - just "full of it" errh, I mean, have lots of information to share. Welcome to the Tyler, area Where are you moving from?

Default Lindale definately - for this reason

Hello,
I have to agree with the first Lindale rec poster. If you are mobile people and are prone to flying out of DFW or Dallas Love then Lindale has the location advantage over the southermost towns spoken to. The freeway acess to I20 is 30-40 minutes closer than say Arp or Chapel Hill. This becomes important for the cheap early morning fares. Freeway access is important for many other closer destinations also.
