I love watching Texas Country Reporter!!!!! It's such a great, heart-warming show!!!! SO well-done. Makes ya proud to be a Texan!!!! I have good friends in Canada who consider themselves "honorary Texans," LOL, and they watch TCR when they come to visit. I think I will buy them some DVDs of the show!

The program has a great -- and long -- history, dating back to its years on Dallas' KDFW back in the 1970s. But it's had a great following statewide and Bob Phillips is someone whose shoes I wouldn't mind filling someday. You go basically all over the place and still stay in your living room and you also learn about places that you never knew existed.

Ironically, Houston's KPRC had a similar concept with a program called "The Eyes of Texas", and was hosted by Ray Miller and, later, Ron Stone. The show actually went out of production a few years ago, but there are efforts being made to bring it back. Great television and also fascinating clips of Texas and its people.

Incidentally, when this show began, Bob Phillips was a field reporter on KDFW's old Eyewitness News back in the mid-70s.

Default Great Show

I love TCR. I watch it every Sunday morning on KENS in SA. It has shown so many interesting and wonderful people places over the years. It's a real television treasure. I particularly liked the segment on the original Republic of Texas northern border. Bob went all the way up to what is now Wyoming to find the exact northern border and found it. Very fascinating.

You know that a series has some real content when you sit down to watch it with pen and paper in hand to make notes for future reference....can't say that about many!

Mark your calendar.... last Saturday of October every year, TCR has a huge 'git together' in Waxahachie on the square - last year over 50,000 people came (so we aren't the only fans of the show).......dozens of people who have been featured on the show over the years have booths and tents and demonstrations that you can visit and buy from - lots of great food, arts, crafts, collections, etc.

I think Ol' Bob has done all right for himself with his little show.....he and wife have opened a gorgeous bed and breakfast retreat down in the Hill Country (very pricey place). That's not a bad retirement plan, is it, after having the greatest job on earth all these years?

I like the show a great deal, but I haven't seen it in several months. It's on at the wrong times for me. Thanks, Pipeweld, I'll have a look!

I love this show too, and miss it. Not in Texas at this time. But his website does have DVDs and episodes that can be ordered.
