NYC and LA are not only the two cultural centers of these United States, but two of the bigger cultural meccas of the world. I'd love for a Texas city to become a U.S. cultural heavyweight. It might as well be Houston, but we're not close to being there yet.

I get that Houston lovers (as well as Dallas lovers) like to exaggerate and inflate self worth, but Houston has many U.S. cities to surpass culturally before they are even in throwing distance of NYC and LA. San Francisco, Chicago, New Orleans, Philly, Boston and others have more history and culture than Houston or Dallas. In Texas alone, San Antonio, Austin, and Ft. Worth all pull more weight pound for pound culturally than the two heavyweights of Texas. I'm sorry, but the next time I hear somebody travelling to Houston for reasons other than business or family will be the first.
Your last paragraph is an absolute joke.

I was thinking it was one of Trae's old 2006 photos but it can't be any older than 3 years old with Hess Tower and Embassy Suites there.

I was agreeing with most of your post until this last sentence. How do they pull more weight against an international giant with international ties? By pound for pound, do you mean per capita/per population? Hopefully that's what you meant because that's the only way I can see this even remotely making any sense.

What he means is that Dallas and Houston are essentially a blank slate culturally. Part of that is because of they are so big and diverse, there is no dominant cultural identity other than "big". Whereas the other cities listed have an identity, whether you agree with it or not... something like -

San Antonio - Mexican / American culture
Austin - Hippie/Hipster
Ft. Worth - Cowboy

Well that's not entirely true. I'd say Houston has a prominent Black, Hispanic, White, & even Asian Hip Hop/RnB culture. Largest in the South after Atlanta actually.

No it's not. Houston and Dallas have culture but compared to San Antonio it's deemed flavorless by many.

I guess its Houston and Dallas' fault for getting so big and having multiple cultures nstead of being dominated by one. I don't take that as being cultureless.

Does anyone have that picture of downtown Houston with TMC and some apartments in the foreground? The sky has an orange tint to it. I know that could be many pictures but I would know it when I see it. LOL

San Antonio has no flavor. I lived there four years. It is just miles and miles of Mexican slums till you get to the burbs
