3 weeks around the Pacific Ocean in Japan, S Korea, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand. The most ambitious trip that I've done.

The longest vacation I've ever taken is 9 days. However, I'm going on a 12-day vacation in April this year. Yay. Will be heading to Croatia and Slovenia. I've been working for over 4 decades and this will be the first time I've ever taken two consecutive weeks off work for vacation. It'll be great! (Only problem is, no more vacation days till 2018. )

I can hardly wait for retirement.

4 months in Europe in 2016. Before that it would have been a month in Dec back in the late 80s, also in Europe.

That sounds wonderful! I've never been to either one, you should post a trip report here.

2 months in China, the first time I ever went back in 2012. In 2004 I spent a month in Italy, I wasn't 18 yet. That was a great trip, but I want to go back now that I could really travel on my own. My wife and I are planning a month trip to Europe, maybe in 2018.

I've realized, when vacationing overseas, 9 days is really the minimum. You need time for travel and it's nice to have a day or 2 to go slow and to get used to the time change. That can take 2-3 days total. I've been overseas 8 times (excluding Canada and Mexico), and 3 of those times were about a week. The rest were 3 weeks to 2 months. A week goes by awfully fast.
