Does any area/neighbourhood in the Caribbean remind you of Florida? Thanks a lot.

If you haven't already, I would recommend taking a couple of cruises that stop in a variety of Caribbean islands. It's the most cost-effective way I can think of to see a bunch of separate islands in a short amount of time, and at least get a tiny taste of what they're like.
I haven't been to all that many Caribbean islands, but of the ones I have been to, I would suggest taking a look at St. Maarten and Grand Cayman Island. St. Thomas is beautiful on the surface, but from what I understand the crime rate is out of control. (Sadly, a pervasive theme of the Caribbean seems to be grinding poverty and high crime.) I know that it's not in the Caribbean, but Bermuda is a beautiful place and well worth checking out. (Though, it doesn't really remind me of Florida.)
If you do want to include Bermuda in your search, there are cruises out of the New York area that go to the Caribbean, but also include a stop in Bermuda.
Oh, as for the poster who said they felt safer in Miami than Bermuda . . . I simply cannot fathom it. My feeling is the exact opposite.
